Job Description :
-Translate common medical terminology into CPT-4 procedure codes, ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnosis codes and HCPCS codes
-Identify diagnosis, procedure and lab codes associated with chronic diseases and commonly used lab and diagnostic procedures
-Review and organize new CPT procedure codes into specific grouping of CPT codes based on logical, clinical rationale
-Understand clinical rule parameters to create IF/THEN logic statements using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes
-Identify obsolete CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes
-Potential opportunity to travel for training
-No client travel required on on-going basis

Desired Candidate Profile :
Education / Certifications / Diplomas Required:
-Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), with knowledge of HCPCS, ICD, CPT, and DRG required
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certification preferred
- MBBS or other clinical degree preferred

Additional Information and/or Requirements (e.g. # of years experience, 3-5 must haves):
- Minimum 2 years experience working with US health care clients and coding guidelines for billing and reimbursement required
- A solid understanding of medical terminology acquired through prior work experience and/or education required
- Familiarity with claims processing required
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve problems independently required
- Excellent communication skills, inclusive of proficiency in spoken and written required
- Proficiency in English, and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with associates and clients required
- Understanding of and familiarity with LOINC codes preferred
